Boats run non-stop to/from Belle Isle between 9:00AM and 8:00PM; hourly on Friday, and about every 30 minutes on Saturday and Sunday. The boats run direct to/from the island with an average transit time of 12 minutes, the fastest way to the island during the event. Passengers are taken on a first-come, first-served basis, and only to the extent vessel capacity permits, with priority given those who purchased Detroit Grand Prix Tickets from the Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority.
Location and Route
Boats depart from the Port Authority Public Dock Passenger Terminal (across from Miller parking garage) located at 130 Atwater Street (corner of Bates Street) in downtown Detroit. The ferry drops passengers at the Harbor Master terminal near the main entrance to the Grand Prix on Belle Isle.
Parking is available at the Miller parking garage as well as COBO, GM, and other lots designated on the Belle Isle Grand Prix transportation map. You can take a short walk from any of the parking lots to the ferry terminal at the Port Authority.
Ferry Tickets can be purchased in advance HERE. Tickets for the ferry service are $10.00 (per round-trip) for all passengers or you may purchase a three-day pass (one round-trip per day) for the ferry service at the discounted price of $27.00. You may purchase same-day tickets at the Port Authority terminal, to the extent space is available, via cash or credit card payment.
If you take the bus/shuttle service to Belle Isle and wish to ride the ferry service off the island, you may purchase a one-way ticket at the Belle Isle dock for $5.00, on a space-available basis.
